What's new: Photo's with fans (2-9-2019), Instruments, handbags, Amsterdam (Greiner /Ladde/ van der Zijl), jewelry. Maastricht (Netherlands). Identity, "Trachten" (under instruments for now), Haarlem, Zaanstreek
It's that first moment you lay eyes on that portrait. You walk around at a flee-market, a bookfair, or an antique shop. And there it is. You don't know the person, where they came from, who they were, but someting in the photo makes you want to pick it up, look closer, turn it around to find out if there's a name or a date on it. Curious as we human beings are.... we want to know.
Often with cdv's and cabinet photo's there is nothing on the back at all, just a simply logo and address on the front, especially around early 1900. But with older photo's we can find all kind of logo's, weapons, types of letters.

However, there comes a moment, and treasures are discovered. Thanks to that salesman who knows by now what you collect, or by chance since someone else finally didn't want to pay the price or go through a lot of work. A box is shown and he tells you "just take a look, maybe it is nothing, maybe you like it". Well, if he says that, it often is exactly what you are looking for!
