A. Greiner / C.F.A. Greiner (Titisee-Neustadt, 6 augustus 1833 – Amsterdam, 28 maart 1890)
Onderstaande twee cdv's, gekocht in Duitsland, beide met zelfde handschrift, dus vermoedelijk hebben de twee Nederlanders dezelfde vrienden in Duitsland gehad? JC Spakler en W. Vrijdag. J.C. Spakler is vermoedelijk geboren in 1832 en dus op de foto ong 43 jaar oud. Als W. Vrijdag inderdaad de W. Vrijdag is geboren te Assen in 1850, zou hij op de foto ong 25 jaar oud zijn.
In 1861 Albert Greiner came from Neustadt, Germany to Amsterdam, just like several family members before him. In 1862 already he opened his photostudio at Nieuwendijk L 87, which he took over from a relative. He became known for portait photography first, but most of all for his speciality theater-photography (of which most photo's were taken in the studio). In 1877 he takes part in the International Photography Exhibition in Art et Amicitiae, Amsterdam. His entry: 4 portraits in "kooldruk" . He wins a bronze medal in that same category. 1878 follows with an honorable mention at the World Exhibition of Paris and in 1879 he wins a silver medal at the exhibition "The Netherlands and Colonies" The 2nd of August that same year he receives permission to name himself "hof-fotograaf" (photographer of the royal court). After that he wins another silver medal once more. The name Greiner dissapears in 1915 from Amsterdam as photographer. Albert Greiner himself passed away March 28th, 1890.
